Tolls in Austria
Austrian vignettes
- In Austria, all motor vehicles up to and including 3.5 tons are subject to tolls on motorways.
- When you are towing a trailer or caravan, consider the total weight of your car and trailer combined to determine the right vignette. If the total weight is 3.5 tons or less, you will only need a single car vignette.
- If your vehicle exceeds 3.5 tons, you must have a toll box to access toll roads in Austria.
- Make sure to securely affix the paper vignette to the inside of your windscreen, outside any tinted strip. It is crucial that the vignette stays undamaged, as it proves you have paid the toll charges correctly.
- On certain sections of the Austrian motorway network, such as the Arlberg Tunnel or Tauern Motorway, you will need a special route toll ticket called the Digital Section Toll.
Advantages of Your Digital Vignette
- Your vignette can be valid immediately after purchase, and you will receive your digital vignette voucher by email.
- There are no processing or dispatch fees.
- You can modify the license plate or start date of the vignette online, provided the validity period has not yet begun.
- No more worrying about surprise fines at the end of your holiday.
