  • Toll-free sections include specific parts of the M0, M4, and other motorways, where tolls are not required.
  • Once purchased, changes or cancellations are not allowed, and the e-vignette is non-refundable.

What Happens If I Drive in Hungary Without a Vignette?

Driving on a toll road section in Hungary without a valid road use permit or vignette is considered unauthorized road usage. The road-user authorization is considered invalid if

The fee category of the chosen authorization is lower than the fee category required for the inspected vehicle (including caravans or trailers).

The license plate number stated on the counterfoil or confirmation does not match the actual vehicle’s license plate.

The period of validity of the vignette has either expired or has not yet started.

The confirmation voucher, along with the registration certificates of the vehicle and any trailers, cannot be presented during a control check.

I received a fine, what should I do?

If you have received an Austrian fine, you can contact tolltickets’ customer support to get more information on the reason for the fine and assistance in contesting it.

Where can I find my voucher?

Your voucher will be sent by email when we confirm your order, and it will also be available on your tolltickets’ customer area in the “orders” section

I drive a motorhome above 3.5 tons. Do I need a HU-GO OBU?

No. Motorhomes of all weights use the Hungarian e-vignette system. Motorhomes over 3.5 tons do not require a HU-GO on-board unit. A valid e-vignette is required instead.

How do I choose the correct vignette category (D1 or D2) for my motorhome?

The correct vignette category for a motorhome is determined using the information shown in the vehicle registration certificate. The following fields must be considered together:

  • Field J: vehicle category
  • Field F.1: maximum permissible gross weight
  • Field S.1: number of seats including the driver

A D1 vignette applies to motorhomes classified as M1 with a maximum permissible gross weight of up to 3.5 tons and no more than 7 seats including the driver.
A D2 vignette applies to motorhomes classified as M1 with more than 7 seats including the driver, or with a maximum permissible gross weight exceeding 3.5 tons.
